the wild flowers bloom in profusion on its shores.

Gangabal Lake trek is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful treks in Kashmir region of Jammu
& Kashmir state. Gangabal is nestled at the foothill of Mount Haramukh and overwhelmingly
one of the most beautiful lakes in the region. Naranag on the other hand is in the Ganderbal

district and is known for its utterly scenic meadows and an ancient Shiva Temple. Naranag-
Gangabal is a short trek that is best taken during the midsummer. The trekking trail is as

beautiful as the destinations; Gangbal Lake Trek is the best all-season trek in India. Unlike
other treks in India, it passes through crystal clear brooks, lush green meadows and beautiful
gorges and ridges, thick jungle walk, snow-covered peaks. The trek is famous for many
attractions. It has one of India’s largest alpine lakes (which is Kashmir’s largest alpine lake),
Gangbal Lake, in its trail. The lake is fed with water by the glacier of Mount Harmukh, a
legendry mountain considered to be the abode of Lord Shiva. Mount Harmukh (towering at
the height of 5142 meters) is known as the Eiger of Kashmir, it was from Mount Harmukh that
Thomas Montgomery, a great trigonometric surveyor, first discovered K1 and K2 mountains
in 1865.The trek has Trunkhol meadow, too, where the mud huts of Gujjar community
comfortable rest. The camping location is unique in this trek, it gives a panoramic view of
mountians that circle the Gangabal Valley and hold more than eight alpine lakes each within a day of distance.
