Overview

This circuit is considered one of the best treks routes in the world though road construction is threatening its reputation but mountain biking is also done in this region which takes you through distinct regional scenery of rivers, flora, fauna and above all - mountains. There are four regions that are passed through on this mountain bike tour; Lamjung, Manang, Mustang and Myagdi. Lamjung and Myagdi.Manang and Mustang are of the higher elevations and are predominantly Tibetan Buddhist. This MTB tour goes counter-clockwise from Besisahar to Nayapul and reaches its summit in Thorung La (pass) at the height of 5416m, or 17,769 feet. The route goes past the following mountains: Manaslu (an 8,000-plus meter peak), LangtangHimal, Annapurna II and IV, Annapurna III and Gangapurna, and, of course, Annapurna I and Dhaulagiri -- passing through the world's deepest gorge in between those two 8,000-plus meter peaks ending in Pokhara. This is a "teahouse mountain biking," meaning there are villages with lodges and restaurants to eat and stay in along the entire route. You are expected to eat breakfast and dinner in the same lodge where you are spending the night.

We start our ride after breakfast and head towards Taal. Leaving the main streetsthe trail will change to a rough jeep track. We follow the road  keeping theMarshyangdi river in the left hand side. After riding for nearly 30km we start our bike and hike section of the trail which features singletracks which is used to transport different items via mule. After resting and climbing all the way upto the army checkpoint and gateway to the Manang Valley we mount our bikes and head towards Taal seen just some kilometers ahead in the banks of the Marshangdiriver.

Taal to Chame(Rideable: 100%, Altitude: 1700m—2570m, Distance: 23km 1365m ascent)

After a well deserved sleep and waking up to beautiful view of the mountains we have our breakfast and prepare for another adventure filled day of bike n hike. Leaving Taal we head towards Chame through trails which has been widened for jeeps. The ride towards our destination gets more interesting as we will be seeing mountains and alpine jungles which helps us forget the tiredness. Once reaching Chame we can get some well deserved rest in the hot springs.

Chame to Manang(Rideable: 100%, Altitude: 2570m—3540m, Distance: 30km - 1044m ascent)

Manang to ThorongPhedi (Rideable: 68%, Altitude: 3540m—4450m, Distance: 17km 980m ascent)

After a very well deserved rest we will start our ride once again aiming for ThorangPhedi. Leaving Manang we will be riding up slowly towards Yak Kharka. This is a day when we will be moving slowly as the altitude will be taking effect. Riding and pushing the bike through single tracks below the foot of those of majestic mountains we will be arriving atThorongPhedi.

Thorong Phedi to Muktinath (Rideable: 66%, Altitude: 5416m—3750m,Distance:18km)

Love it or hate it this will be the day when we will be needing most of the effort and is also the most important day of the tour as we will be climbing the Thorong La pass with our bikes. It is defiantly a hard section to do therefore we advice our clients to start the day before 5am because as the day progresses it will be getting windy so an early start will result in an early finish down at Muktinath. Though just 5km to the top it will be taking more than four hours to reach the top.Descending down takes some 40 minutes passing Muktinatha pilgrimage site of the temple of the eternal flame.

Muktinath to Tukuche(Rideable 100%, Altitude 3750m -2590m, Distance 35km)

Today the ride mostly consists of downhill for the first half of the ride through the famous Lupra Valley and head down towards Jomsom for some lunch. After the lunch we start our final second half of the ride down towards Tukuche. Tukuche is a small village on the banks of Kali-gandaki with the old town still consisting of traditional houses on the side of long cobbled streets.

Tukuche  - Tatopani ((Rideable 100%, Altitude 2590m -1190m, Distance 35km)

We start our ride after breakfast on our way down to Tatopani. The route generally consists of jeep track with some single tracks in between. Tatopani is a natural hot spring retreat with many hotel choices to stay in. From here we can view Nilgiri South. We will finish our ride with a good relaxing time in the hot spring recollecting the good times in the trail for the last 11 days.

Tatopani to Beni (Rideable 100%, Altitude 1190m to 800m, Distance 22km)
